Enhanced Magnetorheological Performance of Carbonyl Iron Suspension Added With Barium Ferrite Nanoparticle

Hard-magnetic barium ferrite (BF) nanoparticles with a hexagonal plate-like structure were used as an additive to carbonyl iron (CI) microparticle-based magnetorheological (MR) fluid. The morphology of the pristine CI and CI/BF mixture particles was examined by scanning electron microscopy. saturation magnetization coercivity values each particle measured in powder state vibrating sample magnetometry. MR characteristics fluid using rotation rheometer under range magnetic field strengths compared those CI-based flow behavior both fluids fitted Herschel–Bulkley model, their stress relaxation phenomenon Schwarzl equation. BF showed higher dynamic elastic yield stresses than without strength increased. Furthermore, embedded space between microparticles improved dispersion stability performance
